Frozen everywhere.

The canal and Lake Carnegie were completely icy.

Although a handy man of my apt. told me that

people could ice skating there if you see a red flag, I wasn't

sure about it.

I tried to throw a piece of twig on the surface of the canal to

just make sure if it's really frozen.

Then it didn't go under and slipped far away, which means the surface of canal

is frozen.

Wow! big fun!

The history of African-American around here

To do with President Obama, I was taught about the history of African-American in Witherspoon. The photo shows one of them, Paul Roberson.

Well,,, Obama doesn't seem to me like, strictly speaking, to be an African-American

in some ways.

I found that there were quite a lot of different point of views about this new President of

United States between Japanese media

and US' one and they come up on different ways of reporting.

How do you think of that?

I have been reading a blog by a lady who is a pianist and an excellent piano teacher.
She is one year younger than me.
I have known her since she was little.
She is really hard worker.

Her piano diary in her blog was really interesting to read.
Very much often, I find it useful to meet her choice of words to explain what she
has been experiencing through piano and music.
Let me introduce one from her diary;
"画家に限らず、昔の音楽家達も純粋で、本当に偉大な人たちは、皆、悲惨な人生を、たどっていると思います。
悲惨というか、気質的に芸術を愛する人は、単純な事では楽しんだり、喜んだりできません。要するに気分転換が、普通の人たちと違って上手くいかないのだと思います。
この世にないものを求めたり、美に対する憧れや、感受性が人一倍強く、そういったものが全て外に向かうのでなく、内に向かってしまうので現実の世界に生きにくい人種だろうなとも思えます"
